I'm getting an error message ‘Error Starting DriveSafely: Class’net.rim.blackberry/api.mail.BimeBodyPart’ not found (or similiar).
This error occurs because your phone’s operating system needs to be updated to 4.5 or greater. First, contact your carrier for the most up-to-date OS (Operating System aka Firmware) for your phone. If they will not update it for you follow these instructions:
- Download and install the latest version of RIM’s Free Desktop Manager here: BlackBerry Desktop Manager
- Select and download the newer OS you wish to put on your phone and install it to your computer.
- Open RIM’s Desktop Manager and make sure you backup your current device
- Delete the vendor.xml file – On PC’s it will be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader
- Plug your BB into your computer and open RIM’s Desktop Manager
- Select Application Loader
- You will be prompted to upgrade to the OS you have downloaded
